University of Canterbury Scholarships and Awards for International Students

“The University of Canterbury recognises that international students enhance our campus environment by sharing their unique cultures and values with other students in the classroom and with people throughout the wider community.” – Dr Rod Carr, Vice-Chancellor, University of Canterbury

Undergraduate Studies Scholarship
Value: NZ$80,000 (NZ$20,000 per year for up to four years); 24 awards available each year
Conditions: top-achieving international students who have just graduated from secondary school and have been accepted to a pre-degree or undergraduate degree programme at the University of Canterbury

UC Undergraduate Entrance Scholarship
Value: NZ$1000 – $3000 cash for first year of undergraduate degree at UC
Conditions:  awarded based on CIE or IB grades or equivalent

English Language Merit Award
Value: NZ$500 tuition credit towards an English Language or Foundation Studies programme.
Conditions: international students who have gained University Entrance in New Zealand and who will commence an undergraduate degree programme at the University of Canterbury

International Mobility Outbound Exchange Award
Value: Up to NZ$5000 cash; minimum 50 awards available each year.
Conditions: for University of Canterbury students who spend one semester or one year at an overseas institution

International Mobility Inbound Study Abroad Award
Value: Up to NZ$5000 cash; minimum 50 awards available each year.
Conditions: for students from overseas universities to come and experience one semester or one year at the University of Canterbury
