Griffith: International Achievements Recognised

Congratulations to Dr. Kay Hartwig and Dr. Leigh Kirwan who were recognised for their outstanding achievements in promoting the University internationally at the second Griffith Internationalisation Awards. 

In 2013 over 600 Griffith Students took part in short-term international programs. More than 25 Griffith academics led groups of students to international destinations. Griffith students now have a world of choice to learn in over 40 countries around the world.

The Griffith Internationalisation Awards recognise outstanding contribution to internationalisation. There were 18 nominees in the category of Most Outstanding Contribution to Short Term Global Mobility Program (taking Griffith to the world)

OTAGO: International Acknwledgement for Beautiful Campus

The University of Otago has once again been ranked among the worlds most beautiful campuses. The campus is said to be "situated in the already picturesque New Zealand, this university's campus simply builds of the natural beauty of it". The Huffington Post ranked Otago among the top 15 alongside Aarhus University in Denmark and Oxford and Cambridge in the UK.

The University of Otago is ranked top of ALL New Zealand universities in the latest Educational Performance Indicators (EPI) released by the Tertiary Education Commission (TEC). 

The university's performance is assessed on; course completion, qualification completion, student progression and student retention 2012 - Otago placed first in all four measures.

"This outstanding result affirms the excellence of our teaching, which is a defining feature of our University", says Professor Vernon Squire, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and International).

He goes on to credit this exceptional performance to the university staff and the quality of their students. "The consistent high quality or teaching at the University of Otago has once again been underscored by independently-assessed factual data".

Scholarships for 2014 Now OPEN for application!

Latest information on International First Year Scholarships 2014 are now available on the University of Canterbury website. Students may be awarded up to $20000 in funding towards their first year of study in either Foundation Studies or Undergraduate Programs at UC. Learn more here.

Introducing: UC International College (UCIC) by NAVITAS

Beginning its first intake in October with the Commerce stream, the University Transfer Program (UTP) is a great alternative pathway in to one of New Zealand's best universities. The program is equivalent to the UC's first year bachelor degree.

The UCIC is located on campus, where students get to experience the university environment and its facilities. This program also hosts smaller classes allowing student to get more personal attention from lecturers, great for students adjusting to university life abroad.

Intakes for the UTP are in October, March and June.

Entry requirements: A-Levels, STPM, UEC, Australian Year 12 or Equivalent.

As applications for the July 2013 intake draws to a close, here are some important highlights for the coming months and the Feb 2014 intake.

2014 Quota Application Deadlines:

  • Bachelor of Pharmacy (M3F) 31st August 2013. Please note, this date has been moved forward.
  • Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (M3N) 31st August 2013.
  • Bachelor of Nursing (H3D) 30th September 2013.
  • Graduate Diploma of Pharmaceutical Science (M6E) 31st August 2013.
  • Master of Pharmaceutical Science (M7E) 31st August 2013.
  • Master of Psychology (Clinical) (S7J) 31st October 2013.
Late applications to these programs will not be entertained.

New NOVEMBER intake for the Bachelor of Business

First Year Bachelor of Business students now have the option of beginning in NOVEMBER, enabling them to complete their degree faster! By completing their first 4 units over the summer, students can aim to graduate in 2.5 years instead of the standard 3 years.

Specialisations (Majors) offered in this accelerated intake are such as Economics and Finance, Accounting and Corporate Governance and Management. 

This intake is only applicable to First Year students, without exemptions. So don't miss out, apply NOW!

UTAS Foundation Studies Applications are OPEN!

Intake begins 21st October 2013. Students have a few streams to choose from, depending on their intended degree program:
  • Science and Engineering
  • Business and Finance
  • Culture and Communication

PhD Workshop by Dr. Shanton Chang, The University of Melbourne

The University of Melbourne is conducting a workshop on the highlights of a PhD program from selecting the right topics to employment opportunities upon graduation.

Presented by Dr Shanton Chang, Senior Lecturer and Assistant Dean from the Department of Computing and Information Systems, he has significant research experience on the impact of online behaviour on education, information systems security, health informatics and social networking, among other interesting areas.

Dr Chang is also a recipient of numerous teaching awards at the University of Melbourne, and also a Australian National Citation for Excellence in Teaching and Learning in 2011.

Health Science places for international students

University of OTAGO

The number of places in professional Health Sciences programmes is restricted.Therefore, places in these programmes will be offered on a competitive basis, based principally on academic performance in the HSFY course.The most significant changes are the availability of a small number of places in Medicine and an increase in the number of places available in Pharmacy.

For students seeking to enrol in the 2014 Health Sciences First Year (HSFY) course, the availability of places for second-year admission (2015) is summarised at the here.
