Monash University - Australia

New version of Monash English Placement Test now available

A new version of the Monash English Placement Test (MEPT) was released on 15 March 2015. Taking the MEPT is strongly encouraged for students who do not have an international test score. It helps them to have a realistic estimation of their English level and to be placed in the most appropriate class for their ability. It also helps them to plan their studies in Australia by estimating the length of English study required. Please note – the previous version of the test will not be accepted.

Bachelor of Education (Honours) – new double degree course options

There is always a demand for excellent teachers in early childhood, school and community settings. The Bachelor of Education (Honours) is a four-year course that prepares students to be education leaders. Students can focus their studies in early childhood, primary or secondary education – or a combination of these. While an education degree provides a fine basis for a rewarding career in teaching, students studying specialisations in either Primary education or Secondary education can enhance their career options by studying it concurrently with a second degree in the following areas:
  • Arts
  • Business – new from 2016
  • Commerce
  • Computer Science – new from 2016
  • Fine Art (Visual Arts specialisation only)
  • Information Technology – new from 2016
  • Music
  • Science
Secondary education is always studied as part of a double degree course, with the partner degree providing the specialist discipline knowledge for the areas in which students will qualify to teach. Taking a double degree combination will lead to the award of two degrees; the students chosen specialisation in the Bachelor of Education (Honours) and the degree awarded for the partner course – for example Bachelor of Education (Honours) in Secondary Education and Bachelor of Science. The design of these double degree courses mean that students graduate with two degrees in the time normally taken for the single Bachelor of Education (Honours) course.

Most organisations want graduates who are multi-faceted and multi-talented. By studying a double degree at Monash, students not only increase their skills and knowledge, but also have the ability to pursue multiple career paths.Monash has one of the most comprehensive double degree programs in Australia, giving students more opportunity to combine their passions with business skills, and set them up for an array of careers across different industries.Monash Business School offers a variety of double degrees across our business and commerce courses, including doubles degrees with:
  • Law
  • Engineering
  • Arts
  • Computer Science
  • Fine Art
  • Information Technology
  • Music
  • Design
  • Education
  • Science
We also offer the opportunity to study double degrees in business or commerce, giving students the ability to gain degrees in multiple discipline areas such as commerce and finance or business and accounting. The best part of a Monash double degree is that it doesn’t equal double the work. Our double degrees can be studied in at least two years less than it would take to study the two degrees separately, because the required units from one course count as electives in the partner course.

Why wait to get started? Mid-year intake for our courses starting in July is now open.
